Recipe of the Month

Use apples and fresh cider from the market to make this quick and healthy dessert:

Spiced Apple Rings

Makes 6 Servings

  • 4 small apples, cored
  • 2 cups cider
  • ¼ cup brown sugar or white sugar
  • 2 sticks cinnamon

Peel apples, if desired. Cut each apple crosswise into ½-inch thick rings. In a medium saucepan, combine cider and sugar, add cinnamon sticks, and bring to a boil. Add apples and bring to a boil again. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes, spooning syrup over apples occasionally, or until apples are tender.
