Vendor - Takoma Kitchens
Did you know that an award winning producer participates in the Market every weekend?
That's right! Takoma Kitchen's honey whole wheat bread was awarded the blue ribbon
at the Montgomery County Fair a few years ago. Furthermore, their cinnamon-raisin
cookies captured second place at the Montgomery County Fair. It is no surprise, then,
that of the treats offered weekly at the market, the honey whole wheat bread and cinnamon
raisin cookies rank among their top sellers. In addition to the eighteen varieties of
breads and many types of cookies available for sale, Takoma Kitchens also makes a
variety of pastries, pies, tarts, and scones.
Takoma Kitchens was founded by John Hyde and Louise Swartzwalder in Takoma Park in 1984.
The business is still owned and operated by this husband and wife team, although the
bakery location has since moved to Hyattsville, Maryland. All baked goods are made
from scratch with all natural ingredients. There are no preservatives and no
artificial ingredients in any of their specialties.
Most all of Takoma Kitchens' income is generated from sales at the three markets they attend:
Arlington Farmers' Market, Takoma Farmers' Market, and the U.S.D.A. Farmers' Market.
Takoma Kitchens has been participating in our Market for over a dozen years,
and we have been fortunate to enjoy the bakery's goodies throughout the summer as well as the winter seasons.
